Woman caught with drugs at Ercan airport after narcotics detector dog reacted to her suitcase
A passenger on a flight from Germany to North Cyprus was found with drugs on arrival at Ercan airport after it was detected by Narcotics Detector dog.
The suspect, CP, 27, a German national who arrived at Ercan Airport at around 10:00 pm on Saturday December, 13 on a connecting flight from Germany was found to be traveling with drugs when narcotics detector dog Pamir reacted to the two suitcases belonging to the suspect, prompting the Narcotics and Smuggling Prevention Directorate team to conduct a search of the bags.
During the search conducted in the presence of the suspect,
approximately 100 grams of a substance believed to be cannabis mixed
with tobacco were found hidden inside tobacco packets.
She was brought to court on Saturday on charges of drug possession.
The court ordered the suspect to be held in police custody for three days for investigative purposes. The police investigation into the incident is ongoing.
