Two men sent to prison for secretly entering north Cyprus from the south

Two individuals who were found to have crossed from Southern Cyprus to Northern Cyprus illegally, were arrested and brought to court.

The suspects; AI and MA were charged with 'violating a military restricted zone'.

Police said the suspects had entered the TRNC on December 16, 2024, by violating a First-Degree Military Restricted Zone in the Haspolat Region from South Cyprus.

The police noted that the suspects were apprehended on the same day in Haspolat and arrested under a warrant obtained from the court. Additionally, the police stated that the suspects have no legal ties to the TRNC and that the investigation has been completed, requesting their transfer to prison.

After evaluating the testimony presented in court, the judge ruled that the suspects be detained in prison for a period not exceeding two months.
