Princess Kate grew closer to faith during cancer battle, royal biography reveals
The Princess of Wales has developed a deeper connection to religion while battling cancer, according to a new royal biography by Robert Hardman, “Charles III: New King”.
In an excerpt published by the Daily Mail, sources close to the royal family indicate that Kate has “become more interested” in her faith since her cancer diagnosis and subsequent chemotherapy treatment.
“I would say things are more hopeful there,” a royal family friend told Hardman regarding the princess’s religious experience.
The biography, however, contrasts this with Prince William’s approach to religion, describing him as “a modern young man who is uncomfortable with certain aspects of ceremony and religion”. The prince reportedly does not accompany his wife to church, which she now frequently attends. Hardman’s earlier work suggested William might break with tradition by declining the title of Supreme Governor of the Church of England when he ascends to the throne – a role British monarchs have held since the 1530s.
Kate revealed her cancer diagnosis last March, describing it as a “huge shock”. In September, she announced the completion of her chemotherapy, noting that “while chemotherapy is finished, my journey to healing and full recovery is long, and I must continue to take each day as it comes”.
