Man arrested for kissing a child said he thought the child was his

A man who was arrested for kissing his neighbor's teenage child said he thought the child was his.

According to police report, the incident happened on Saturday December 14 when the suspect named only as UD, a 39-year-old foreign national reportedly kissed a 14-year-old child in front of an apartment building in Lefkosia.

The suspect was who arrested after the incident was brought to court on Sunday on charges of “child sexual abuse and sexual assault”.

Police said that on December 14, the suspect sexually assaulted his 14-year-old neighbor in front of an apartment building in Lefkosa when he kissed her on the cheek and squeezed her breasts.

The police stated that the suspect claimed in his statement that he kissed the child, thinking it was his own. The police noted that the investigation is still in its early stages and that there are surveillance camera recordings that need to be reviewed, requesting that the suspect be detained for three days.

In court, the suspect claimed that the child had been smoking and that he threatened to tell the child’s father, suggesting that the child lied out of fear.

After evaluating the testimony, the judge ordered the suspect to be detained for three days.
