42 people arrested for residing illegally in Cyprus: over 9,000 deported already in 2024
A total of 42 people were identified and arrested by the police in Cyprus (south) on Sunday, as part of an action to identify third country nationals residing illegally in Cyprus, while a total of 9,690 people have been repatriated since the beginning of the year.
As stated in a police statement, the arrests were made during a coordinated nationwide operation of police checks on Sunday.

persons of various nationalities, who, it has been established, remain
illegally in the country
The police have already repatriated nine of the 42 persons, by flight from Larnaca airport to their countries of origin, and are proceeding with the procedures for the immediate repatriation of the other 33 persons, always in cooperation with other competent authorities. Along with the nine persons, ten other persons, who were scheduled to return to their countries of origin today, were also repatriated.
Sunday’s operation started at 5.00 am and was completed around 12.00 noon, the police said. It involved members of the Aliens and Immigration Service – YAM, as well as members of the Green Line Surveillance and Migration Flows Countermeasures Sub-Directorate.
