Three women who broke into several residences in Lefkoşa and stole thousands of lira worth of jewelries and cash were remanded in custody for 8 days.

Three individuals identified as K.C, N.C and D.C who are all Turkish nationals were accused of entering 4 separate apartments in Lefkosa where they stole jewelries worth thousands of Liras and cash.

They were brought to court again for the second time on Thursday, November 14 on charges of burglary and theft.

Police told the court that on August 28, 2024, between 1:00 PM and 6:00 PM, the suspects forcefully entered the apartment of one S.B located in Gönyeli using a likely hard object. After damaging and opening a locked safe in the bedroom with a kitchen knife taken from the residence, they stole items including 20 quarter gold coins, a silver-colored white gold ring, a gold bracelet engraved with the name "Aylin," a Trabzon-style bracelet, approximately 3 grams of gold, 10 gold earrings for children, 2 pearl necklaces, and a gold bracelet inscribed with the letter "A."

Additionally, on November 12, 2024, between 7:30 AM and 3:30 PM, the same suspects allegedly entered a residence of one C.B on Şht. Gazeteci Hasan Tahsin Avenue in Lefkosa without damaging the wooden front unlocked door. They reportedly stole 7,500 TL, 300 pounds sterling, and approximately 50 pieces of jewelry from a wardrobe in the bedroom.

The police further alleged that between November 10 and 11, 2024, between 9:00 pm and 1:00 pm, the suspects broke into another residence owned by A.Y Sönmezler apartment on İyiniyet Street in Gönyeli and stole items from an unlocked white cabinet in the bedroom. These included an emerald jewelry set valued at 465,000 TL, a gold anklet engraved with the letters "A" and "I," a rose gold necklace inscribed with "A," three full gold coins, one quarter gold coin, diamond rings of 1.5 and 2.5 carats, a diamond-studded white gold necklace, and a Cartier silver ring worth 700 Euros. They also took £2,000 in cash stored under a mattress.

The suspects are also accused of burglarizing a home in Lefkosa belonging to one D.S.B. between November 7 and 12, 2024. Items stolen included three gold necklaces and two Swarovski necklaces, taken from a dresser in the bedroom.

After extensive surveillance and review of security footage, the suspects were located and apprehended in a guesthouse in Kyrenia. During a search, part of the stolen gold was recovered under a mattress and inside an air conditioning unit. Additionally, 22,550 TL, 300 Euros, 1,320 dollars, and 155 pounds sterling were found, along with a tool allegedly used to open locks.

Police stated that it was determined that the suspect K.C entered and exited SB's house in Lefkoşa, and that the suspect SB was also arrested to investigate this matter.

Police noted that further investigation is required, including reviewing additional footage and collecting witness statements. The court granted an eight-day extension of custody for the suspects and ordered medical examinations for the three suspects upon request from their lawyer, citing health concerns.

The judge ordered the suspects to remain in custody for 8 more days and approved the request for medical examinations.
