Student arrested for causing accidents and driving without a license

An individual who was arrested for driving without a license and insurance will face trial in the future.

The individual, AKAA, a Jordanian student n north Cyprus was arrested on Wednesday November 20 for the offenses of driving without a license, driving without insurance, failing to yield the right of way to vehicles on the main road, and careless driving.

He was brought before the court on Thursday morning.

Police stated that on November 20, 2024, at around 4:10 AM, the suspect was driving at the intersection of Bedrettin Demirel Road when, he entered the main road without yielding the right of way, colliding with a car traveling eastward on the main road. The second vehicle was struck on it left side by the suspect's vehicle.

The police reported that there were no injuries in the accident but estimated damages of 60,000 TL was caused to the suspect's vehicle and 50,000 TL for the other vehicle.

The officer added that the investigation had been completed and that the suspect, who resides in the country as a student, required bail.

After reviewing the testimony, the judge ordered the suspect to be released pending trial under the conditions of a travel ban, weekly police check-ins, and a cash bail of 35,000 TL.
