Severe weather batters Cyprus, temperatures drops by 6-7 degree, first snowfall in south Cyprus

Strong winds sweeping across Cyprus have caused disruptions to the electricity grid, with repair crews from the Cyprus Electricity Authority (EAC) mobilised to address the damage.

The Cyprus Meteorological Service released data today documenting a notable drop in temperatures across the island, with Nicosia emerging as the coldest city.

According to the recorded figures, the lowest temperature in Nicosia from 8:00 PM Saturday until this morning was 12°C. This marks the beginning of a more wintery outlook for the island, as the first snowflakes of the season were reported on the Troodos mountains.

The provided data shows the highest and lowest temperatures observed during the same period.

The Troodos Mountains in Cyprus saw their first snowfall of the season on Friday, fulfilling forecasts from the Meteorological Service and delighting winter enthusiasts.

Social media users quickly began sharing photos and videos of the snowfall, showcasing the picturesque scenery and marking the unofficial start of winter in the region.
