Police officer restricting traffic after a fatal accident in Girne hit by a car

 

A police officer who was restricting traffic on  Uğur Mumcu Street in Girne-Karakum following a fatal accident that claimed the life of a young woman and injured two others was hit by a car.

The incident happened at around 7:20 pm on Saturday November 30 following a fatal accident on Uğur Mumcu Street in Girne-Karakum that left four people injured and one person dead. 

Following this accident, another incident occurred in front of Erdener Market, where a police officer was struck by a car while directing traffic.

The police issued the following statement regarding the incident:

"On 30.11.2024, at approximately 21:20, on the Girne-Çatalköy main road at the Ozanköy junction, Fatma Fahracı (43), while driving the vehicle with license plate YE 687 carelessly from Çatalköy towards Girne, struck the police officer directing traffic at the Ozanköy junction. The officer was redirecting vehicles heading from Çatalköy towards Girne due to an earlier fatal traffic accident on Uğur Mumcu Street in Karakum. The injured police officer is currently receiving treatment at Girne Dr. Akçiçek Hospital. The investigation is ongoing."
