Harris narrowly leading Trump in US presidential race, poll shows
Vice President Kamala Harris has a narrow one percentage point lead over former president Donald Trump at 48% to 47% in national polling averages ahead of Tuesday’s U.S. presidential election, The Guardian US reported.
The race remains tight in seven key battleground states – Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin – which are likely to determine the election outcome.
A New York Times/Siena College poll showed Harris holding an eight-point advantage among early voters, while Trump leads among those who have yet to cast their ballots but say they are very likely to vote. The same poll indicated Harris has a slight lead in Nevada, North Carolina and Wisconsin, with Trump ahead in Arizona, whilst Georgia, Michigan and Pennsylvania remain too close to call.
Democratic party officials have expressed concern that Trump may mount legal challenges to the results, suggesting the former president anticipates a potential Harris victory on election day.
