Derrick Ampomah laid to rest at the Lefkosa cemetry

Derrick Bamfo Ampomah, a Ghanaian student who died following a fire incident in a house in Haspolat last week has been laid to rest at the Lefkosa cemetery on Friday.

He was buried at the Lefkosa cemetery on Friday. Hymns and prayers were made by friends and families who attended the funeral. 

The incident occurred in an apartment building located in Hapsolat at around 3:00 am on Wednesday October 23.

Occupants of the apartment, Derrick Bamfo Ampomah, 24 and Jonathan Maukle Adjabeng, 24, who were roommates were affected by the fire.

Derrick died at the hospital while Jonathan who was seriously injured is still receiving treatment at the Dr. Burhan NalbantoÄŸlu State Hospital in Lefkosia.

The culprits identified only as MT, 42, the landlord of the house, SMAE, 25 and Ä°.EG, 20 were later identified and arrested in connection with the incident. 

They set fire to items in the stairwell of an apartment building entrance, leading to one fatality and another person being severely injured.

They were charged with manslaughter, arson, setting fire to property, and causing serious injury”.
