African woman arrested at south Cyprus airport for carrying fake passport and pushing a police officer

Police in Paphos south Cyprus during the week arrested a 37-year-old African woman for assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest while trying to exit the country with a fake passport at the Paphos airport.

According police, the woman of African descent was arrested shortly after 6pm on Thursday November 21 at the Paphos airport departures lounge after it was determined that she was carrying a French ID with the photo of someone else on it.

During her interrogation, the suspect pushed a police officer and she was subsequently arrested on the spot for assault, whereupon she resisted arrest.

The woman later admitted she was not the person shown in the document and identified herself as a 37-year-old asylum seeker of African origin.

She was arrested for impersonation.
