Violence against women: Man assaults wife in a restaurant in Ozanköy

In a case of violence against women, a man has been detained in Lefkosia for assaulting his wife whom he was in the process of divorcing.

The incident happened at around 8:00pm on Friday at a restaurant operating in Ozanköy, Lefkosia.

The suspect identified only as O.K, 44, got into an argument with his wife, F.K, 28 while at the restaurant which resulted in him assaulting his wife.

Police said the man who is in the process of divorcing his wife severely assaulted her. He hit her in the face and head with a porcelain sugar bowl he took from the restaurant which caused her left upper jaw, left eye base and left cheek bones to be broken.

The victim was taken to the Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital in Lefkosa for treatment and discharged afterwards,

The  husband was arrested and investigation is ongoing.
