Two individuals injured in separate accidents in Lefkosia

A student who was crossing the road was struck by a vehicle in Lefkosia yesterday. 

According to Police Press Office the incident happened at around 1 pm when the driver of a vehicle, Talin Atakan 33, a Turkish Cypriot who was driving northward of a road in Lefkosa collided with one O.P.N, 37, a Nigerian student close to the vicinity of the Turkish Bank.

Police said O.P.N was crossing the road outside of a designated pedestrian crossing when he was hit by Atakan due to his lapse in attention.

O.P.N sustained injuries from the accident and was taken to Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital in Lefkosia where he was diagnosed with a fracture in his right knee and is currently being monitored in the Orthopaedic Department.

In a separate incident, at approximately 7.30 pm yesterday, a motorcyclist, A.K, 27 lost control of his motorcycle, while traveling towards Lefkosia on the Kyrenia-Lefkosia Highway. 

Police said he veered into the oncoming lane due to inattention.

At that moment, a truck, driven by one C.O, 36, was waiting to turn towards Boğazköy on the right side of the road. The truck collided with the left rear section of the motorcycle.

A.K who was injured in the incident was also taken to Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital, where he was diagnosed with a fracture in his right leg and is now under observation in the Orthopaedic Department.
