Two arrested for allegedly stealing perfume from a supermarket
Two people, a man and a woman who were found to have stolen perfumes from a market in Demirhan were arrested and detained on the order of a court.
The suspects M.Y and K.T, both Turkish nationals were brought to court on Sunday on charges of theft.
Police said they stole two perfumes from the Erülkü Supermarket operating in Demirhan.
Police in court testimony said the suspects went to Erülkü Supermarket at around 12:50 pm on Friday October 25, 2024 to go shopping. They took two perfumes, Hugva İntense and Slauger Gold, worth a total of 1,152 TL, offered for sale in the market and put them in a bag they were carrying. They then left the market without paying for them.
They were detected in Lefkoşa on Saturday October 26 and arrested in accordance with a pending court order. During a search of their residences, the two perfumes in question were found in their possession and taken as evidence.
Police said the the suspects gave voluntary statements regarding the matter and that their statements needed to be confirmed, and requested that they be detained for 1 day initially for investigation purposes.
