Student remanded for living in north Cyprus without a resident permit for 934 days
A student who was found living in north Cyprus without a resident permit for two years has been sent to prison on the order of court.
The individual, P.S.N, 27, a Zimbabwean student in north Cyprus was identified and arrested on Meşe Street in the Küçükkaymaklı region of Lefkoşa at around 8:00 pm on Tuesday October 15, 2024 after it was determined that she had no resident permit.
She was brought to the Lefkosia district court on Wednesday on charges of residing in the TRNC without permission.
Police in a court testimony against the individual said during an immigration check, it was determined that she had been living illegally in the country without a resident permit for 934 days since March 26, 2022.
The police officer stated that the necessary statements regarding the matter had been obtained, the investigation had been completed, and that the suspect would continue to commit the same crime if released, and requested that she be sent to prison for a period not exceeding 20 days until trial.
