Student obtains resident permit with forged health document: Hit with 20,000TL bail
A Turkish national who forged document to obtain resident permit in north Cyprus and was arrested will face legal procedure.
The suspect, H.D, a Turkish student in north Cyprus reportedly changed the dates on her health report while in Turkiye and used it to obtain a resident permit with the help of an individual.
She was brought to the Lefkosia district court on Monday October 21 on charges of document forgery, use of forged document and obtaining record by fraud..
Police in court testimony, said the suspect who is in Turkey, changed the dates of the health report she received from the health units affiliated with the Turkish Ministry of Health, forged it and then sent it to an individual identified only as Y**** via WhatsApp.
Police stated that Y*****, who received the report in the incident that took place in December 2023, entered H.D's information into the TRNC Immigration System and obtained a residence permit.
Police said that Y***** was identified and arrested within the scope of the investigation carried out in the last 7 months, in which a total of 13 people were arrested.
Police stated that the suspect was a second-year student in the health sciences department.
The suspect, who spoke after the police, said, “My friend said the system was not opening, I asked her to do it because she was in Turkey, and I did it.”
The judge who evaluated the matter in court released the suspect on bail on the condition that she is banned from travelling abroad until her trial, pay a cash guarantee of 20,000 TL, sign a personal guarantee bond worth 500,000 TL and visit the nearest police station three days a week.
