Somalian migrants who entered south Cyprus illegally from north Cyprus transferred to migrant center
A family of four and an unaccompanied minor who were spotted shortly overnight in Athienou, south Cyprus were transferred to Pournara migrant center, it was reported on Friday.
The two were intercepted shortly after midnight following information secured by the Athienou police station and the green line sub-directorate.
The five irregular immigrants of Somalian origin were initially taken to the Athienou station where it was determined that they had crossed to the south at 11pm from an unknown point.
“Investigations established that this is a family consisting of a couple, two minor girls and an unaccompanied minor,” police reported.
The family was taken Kokkinotrimithia to be processed at the Pournara reception center.
The case is under ongoing investigation.
