Roommates who got into a fight at a university dorm, reconciles in prison

Two female roommates who got into a fight that resulted in injuries have both decided to embrace peace after reconciling their differences while in prison.

The roommates, B.O and A.Y, both Turkish students studying in north Cyprus got into a fight following a heated argument between them in a dormitory belonging to a university operating in Lefkosa on Wednesday October 16. 

Y.A, a first-year student in the nursing department and B.O is a senior student in the paramedic department were both left with a broken arm and feet following the fight.

The ladies were arrested following the incident. B.O was charged with causing serious damage and A.Y with serious assault. They were detained for two days on the order of the court.

They were brought back to court again on Friday, October 18 with a request for bail.

Police in a court statement said the incident between the women happened at around 2:00pm on October 16.

The suspect B.O is said to have bend and broken her roommate's right hand middle finger because she was making noise in the dormitory. Y.A then threw a metal chair in the room at B.O, severely hitting her and causing the 4 toes of her right foot to break. 

Police said the ladies did not report the incident to the police but accepted the charges brought against them.

The police requested that B.O and Y.A be released on bail.

Speaking after the police, B.O, said "We have made peace."

The judge who evaluated the matter in court released them on bail on the condition that they are banned form leaving the country until their trial, pay a cash guarantee of 20,000 TL each, sign a personal surety bond of 200,000 TL each and report to the nearest police station once every two weeks.
