Police initiate legal action against a man for hitting a stray dog in Kyrenia

Turkish Cypriot police said it has launched a legal process against an individual for killing a dog with his car in Kyrenia.

The incident happened in Kyrenia on Tuesday when the driver of a vehicle hit a stray dog on on Ecevit Street and drove off the scene.

The incident attracted wide reaction on social media with the Golden Paws Association describing it as shameful.

After the images were shared, Traffic Teams affiliated with Kyrenia Police Department took action and identified the driver of the vehicle.

Police in a statement on Wednesday said legal action has been taken against an individual who hit a dog in Kyrenia and fled the scene, leaving it in that condition.
