People in north Cyprus thinks call to prayer is too loud and some said its too low
Some people in north Cyprus are complaining that the call to prayer is too loud, while others are complaining that it is too low to be heard, the TRNC’s religious affairs director Ahmet Unsal said on Friday.
He said his directorate is “taking both of these complaints into consideration” and is “trying to reduce the number of complaints as much as possible”.
He explained that the call to prayer has been recited through a central public address system since 2008, but that there are “still some problems in practice”, especially given the “difficulty of finding people who can recite it properly”.
“We want to switch to a more modern and centralised system which is not susceptible to external intervention. Regrettably, we are facing financial resource difficulties in doing this. We are trying to minimise the complaints received in the shortest time possible,” he said,
He added, “the call to prayer never stops, the flag will never go down”, describing it as an “indispensable” part of life in the north.
