Man sentenced to 35 years in prison for the rape of his girlfriend's teen twin daughters

A man who was being tried for the rape of his girlfriend's teenage twin daughters in north Cyprus have sentenced to 35 years in prison.

The decision against the defendant, Yurdaer Garip, who was being tried for the rape of his girlfriend's twin daughters, who were under the age of 16 was announced on Friday October, 25, two years after the case was instituted at the Kyrenia High Criminal Court.

The incident happened in Kyrenia between 2020 and 2022. 

Delivering the verdict, the judge stated that the defendant was arrested on the grounds that he raped his girlfriend's 14-year-old twin daughters and that he was sent to prison to stand trial after the investigation.

The judge stated that the defendant did not accept the accusations throughout the trial and that there were many hearings.

The judge noted that the prosecution stated that the defendant raped his lover's 14-year-old twin daughters at different times between 2020 and 2022. The judge said that the incident came to light after the girls told their teacher.

The judge stated that statements were obtained from the complainant girls with the help of a social worker and a psychologist.

The judge announced that as a result of the evidence and statements presented to the court during the trial, they found the defendant guilty and sentenced him to 35 years in prison.
