Man arrested with fake travel document at Paphos airport
Greek Cypriot police said it arrested an individual who was about to leave the island via the at Paphos airport to the Netherlands with a fake document.
The individual, a foreign national was arrested for forgery and circulation of a counterfeit document.
According to Paphos police, the incident occurred around 2pm on Tuesday, when a man presented himself at the airport’s departure area to travel to the Netherlands. He presented a Polish residence permit and travel document.
Upon inspection, authorities identified the document as fake.
The the man denied any involvement in the offences. He was arrested with a court order and remanded in custody.
The man had arrived in Cyprus on October 23 on a flight from Brussels, using the same residence permit, which was valid until Tuesday. However, during his departure, the fake document was discovered, leading to his arrest.
