Man allegedly abused his nephew sexually for 5 years in Kyrenia!

A man facing accusation of sexual assault and abuse of his nephew has been remanded in custody.

The suspect, E.B, a Turkish Cypriot man was arrested in Kyrenia last week on charges of sexual abuse of a child under 16 and sexual assault.

Police said he allegedly sexually abused his 12-year-old nephew in the incident that allegedly took place in Kyrenia between 2019 and 2024.

Police prosecutor said a middle school guidance teacher who reported the matter to the Kyrenia police department on October 25, 2024, stated that a 12-year-old girl born in 2012 was abused by her uncle during an autobiography study he conducted in order to meet with students. 

It was reported that when the teacher asked the child to describe her experiences with pictures, the child tried to express the situation by drawing pictures about her uncle and forwarded this information to the police.

The police stated that the girl's statement was taken on the same day in the presence of social services officers and that the suspect sexually assaulted and abused the child many times between 2019 and 2024 at his residence in Kyrenia.

The police reported that the child's written answers to the autobiographical questions and the pictures she drew were taken as evidence. 

The police, who stated that the investigation was ongoing, requested that the suspect be detained for 8 more days for the purpose of investigation.
