Israel orders Lebanese to evacuate Tyre as 24 casualties reported
The Israeli military on Monday ordered residents of several areas in the southern Lebanese city of Tyre to evacuate immediately, warning of impending strikes.
Military spokesperson Avichay Adraee posted a map on social media platform X highlighting the targeted areas, stating “Hezbollah‘s activities force the IDF to act against it forcefully, as we do not intend to harm you”.
The evacuation order directed residents to move north of the Awali River, with Adraee warning that “anyone who is near the elements of Hezbollah, its facilities and combat equipment, is putting his life in danger”.
The announcement comes after Lebanon’s health ministry reported that an Israeli airstrike in central Tyre killed seven people and wounded 17 others earlier in the day.
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) has issued multiple evacuation orders during its month-long military campaign in Lebanon.
Since the war began, more than 2,400 people have been killed in Lebanon, mostly in the past month, according to Lebanon’s health ministry. Israeli authorities report 59 deaths in northern Israel and the occupied Golan Heights.
In Gaza, Palestinian officials say the Israeli offensive has resulted in over 42,500 deaths and left most of Gaza’s 2.3 million people homeless.
