Five remanded in custody for drug possession

Five individuals were remanded in custody on Thursday after they were found to be in possession of drugs. 

The five individuals, H.A, 21, E.G, 20, B.S, 20, M.A, 22 and Y.M, 20 who are all Sudanese were identified and arrested at around 12:40am on Thursday October 10 after they were found to be in possession of drugs during a search carried out on a rental car parked in the Küçük Kaymaklı area of ​​Lefkosia.

They were brought to court on the same day.

Police in a court testimony against the suspects said were found in the vehicle and that two separate packages of cannabis-type drugs weighing 60 grams were found in a box in the back seat of the car.

Police said the suspect H.A admitted his crime in his statement and gave the name of the person he took the drugs from, and that the person in question was being sought.

Noting that the seized substance would be sent for analysis, that the investigation was ongoing and that he was a wanted person, the police requested that the suspects be detained for one day at first.
