Abandoned bag causes scare in Dereboyo: Bomb squad dispatched to scene

There was a 'bomb' scare on Mehmet Akif Street in Dereboyo, Lefkosa on Thursday evening.

According to information obtained by YENİDÜZEN, a suitcase belonging to an unknown person which attracted the attention of locals was sighted in the round about also known as the "Pronto round about" at around 7:30 pm on Thursday. .

The police were notified and bomb disposal experts were dispatched to the area. 

Necessary security measures were taken at the scene by the police teams. The road was then closed to traffic by the police and the suitcase was detonated calming the people around.

After a short while, the road was reopened to traffic.

Police in an official statement on the issue, said various clothes and personal belongings were found in the suitcase.
