31-year-old pedestrian fatally ran over by a truck in Kyrenia

An individual who was working on a road pavement in Kyrenia was hit by a truck when he slipped onto the road and died on the scene.

The unfortunate incident happened at around 7:20pm on Wednesday.

According to police press statement, the deceased, Ömer Ülker, 31 was walking on the roadside pavement on Mustafa Çağatay Street in Kyrenia when he slipped and fell onto the road was hit by a truck that had broken down on the road. 

Police said the broken-down truck driven by Kamil Arslan, 57, was been pulled by a tow truck driven by Ali Akbar, 36 while heading in a westerly direction when it hit the deceased who slipped and fell on the road while walking on the pavement on the left side of the road in front of the Girne Dr. Akçiçek Hospital.

As a result, the first truck being towed passed over the deceased who died on the scene.

It was claimed that the truck belonged to the Taşyapı company owned by Emrullah Turanlı.
