Woman injured after vehicle mistakenly enters reverse

A woman was injured on Monday in Lefkosa after a car mistakenly went into reverse while the driver was trying to come out of the vehicle.

The incident happened at around 7:30pm on Monday on Osman Paşa Street in Lefkosa when 48-year-old Mehmet Ali Çınar who was trying to get out of his car accidentally engaged the reverse gear leading.

Police said he quickly got back in the vehicle while the vehicle continued to reverse. At the same time, Songül Çınar, 40, who was a passenger in the vehicle tried to get out of the vehicle and fell to the ground and was slightly injured in the incident.

The vehicle, which continued to reverse, hit a table, chairs and bar of a business premises called “Biiz Café”.

Songül Çınar was taken to Lefkoşa Dr Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital where she was kept under observation after receiving medical treatment.
