Student arrested for document forgery, 6 months after he was declared wanted by the police
A student who was wanted in connection with the preparation of fake student certificates at Rauf Denktaş University operating in Lefkosa has been arrested by the police six months after he was declared wanted by the police.
The suspect, L.T, a Zimbabwean student in north Cyprus was identified and arrested on Saturday September 28.
Police said the suspect was wanted in connection with the preparation of fake student certificates at Rauf Denktaş University operating in the Walled City of Lefkosia.
He was taken to court on Sunday charges of preparing a forge document and putting same into use.
Speaking in court, the police said, at around 11:00 a.m. on May 8, 2024, one K.U, who works as an assistant in student affairs at Rauf Denktaş University prepared fake student certificates in the names of C.W.N, S.S.A, F.R.M, and J.C.M, who are students at the university, upon the request of one I.A.O, who also works in the student affairs department at the same university.
Police said other suspects were previously arrested in the case and were released on bail following investigation.
The police noted that L.T, who was declared a wanted person in the matter, was identified and arrested on September 28.
Sating that the investigation was ongoing and that there were statements to be taken the police requested that the suspect be detained for another 3 days.
