An individual has been determined to have entered north Cyprus with a fake passport 2 years ago after he was involved in a traffic accident.
The suspect named as A.H, from Pakistan was identified and arrested on Sunday Sept. 22 following a result of a traffic accident he committed in the Dörtyol Police Station area.
He was brought to the Lefkosa district court on Tuesday on charges of "Issuing and Circulating Forged Official Documents", "Obtaining Records by False Conduct" and "Impersonating Another Person".
Speaking in court, police said the suspect entered the country with a fake Pakistani passport and was caught after a traffic accident.
Police stated that on September 11, 2022, the suspect presented a Pakistani passport issued in the name of Waseem Abbas Shah, believed to be fake to the immigration officer on duty at Ercan Airport in the TRNC.
Police said that the suspect admitted his guilt in his voluntary statement regarding the matter.
The police officer noted that the investigation into the matter was ongoing and requested that the suspect be detained for 3 days.
