First bird flu case without animal contact confirmed in US

US health authorities have confirmed the first case of avian influenza (bird flu) in a human without prior contact with infected animals.

Previously, all 14 bird flu cases in the US were linked to individuals who had interacted with animals. The first case was detected in Texas on April 1, marking the initial transmission of the virus from a cow to a human.

Scientists are concerned about these developments, as the virus appears to be affecting not only birds but also other animals.

The recent case involving a human without known animal contact has raised further alarms.

However, the CDC reassures the public that the risk to the population remains low and that current recommendations for managing the epidemic remain in place.
