Fake real estate agent scams man of 18,000 TL
A Turkish man has been detained for 3 days after he was arrested for fraudulently obtaining money by introducing himself as a real estate agent.
The suspect named only as O.C, 41, a Turkish national, resident in Lefkosa, north Cyprus was brought to a court in north Cyprus on Sunday on charges of fraud. v
Police in a court testimony said the suspect who was in Lefkoşa, TRNC as a tourist between February 6-27, 2024, despite not having his own house in the TRNC, said that he would rent a house to one F.E with the intention of defrauding him.
He then sent F.E, who lives in Lefkoşa, a photo of the house, and obtained a total of 18,000 TL from him for the house.
The suspect was declared a wanted person upon the complaint made by the police and was arrested on Sunday September 8, 2024, while trying to enter the TRNC from the Kyrenia Port.
Police said the suspect is a Turkish citizen and entered the TRNC with a 30-day visa, that the statements he made will be investigated, and that since the investigation that has been initiated is still new and there are statements that need to be obtained, requested that he be detained initially for 3 days for investigation purposes.
