Explosion in Cologne, Germany: Moment captured by CCTV

An explosion in Cologne’s historic city centre early in the morning has seriously injured a sanitation worker, local authorities reported.

According to the Kölner Stadt Anzeiger, the explosion occurred at the Vanity Club in the “Ringen” area, known as the “party mile.”

Video footage shows an individual in a hooded jacket placing a bag at the club’s entrance, followed by the explosion.

The police have cordoned off the area and are urging citizens to avoid it.

The building’s owner, which also houses offices and shops, expressed shock and concern, stating, “This is terror for Cologne. Someone detonated an explosive device, even though they must have seen that there were people there.”
