Drunk driver assaults police officer in Kyrenia

A drunk individual who was banned from traffic for illegal parking assaulted a police officer.

The incident occurred at around 1:30 am on Saturday at Balıkçı Kemal Sahil Boylu Street in Girne when the suspect named only as A.Y, 30 assaulted and swore at a police officer who was on duty at the Girne Municipality for banning him from traffic.

According to police statement, the suspect who was under the influence of alcohol grabbed the officer by the chest and pulled him by both arms.

He then assaulted the officer and caused the watch on his left arm to break.

Police noted that the suspect assaulted the officer because his vehicle, which was parked on the pavement, had been banned from traffic by the municipality teams on duty.
