British couple rescued from sea off Cyprus after partner got into the sea following an argument

A British couple who were on holiday in south Cyprus were rescued from the sea on Sunday after the pair fought.

According to Greek Cypriot police report, the incident happened on Sunday morning at the sea off Limassol when the couple, a 27-year-old woman and a 28-year-old man, had an argument, which led the woman to enter the sea to swim away from her partner.

The man then called the police when he notice his partner was getting far away from the shoreline.

When the police arrived at the scene, they found the man swimming in the sea as he try to his partner. Port police came to the scene where they found the two tourists screaming for help.

A small inflatable was launched by the port police towards the couple to help them get on.

The pair were taken to the small dock of the hotel they were staying. Their items were returned to them by the police.

Police said that the couple thanked them and apologised for the incident.
