Angry man set bed on fire in an attempt to burn an individual for gossiping about his girlfriend

In an incident that happened in Iskele, North Cyprus, a man who was livid that his girlfriend was being gossiped around tried to set an individual on fire while he was sleeping. 

The incident happened at around 3:00am on Wednesday September, 4 in Boltaşlı, İskele when the suspect named only as H.T, a Turkish Cypriot, illegally entered a residence of one Nihat İlhan, 50 and set the bed he was lying on, on fire.

Police said the suspect said he did it because Nihat İlhan in Boltaşlı was gossiping about his girlfriend.

He was arrested and taken to court in Famagusta on Sunday Sept. 8.

Police told the court that the suspect secretly entered Nihat İlhan's residence between the hours of 3.04 am and 3.25 am on the morning of September 4, poured flammable material into the bedroom and set fire to İlhan who was sleeping. 

Police said İlhan was seriously injured in the incident and is being treated in the Intensive Care Unit of Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital in Lefkosa.

The police stated that the investigation had just begun and that they would continue their investigation, and requested that the suspect be detained for 3 days.
