TRNC Communicable Diseases High Committee announces Monkey pox measures

The TRNC Communicable Diseases High Committee has produced a series of decisions regarding the monkeypox virus, also known as Mpox, which has been declared a "Public Health Emergency of International Concern" by the World Health Organization.

In the decisions published in the Official Gazette on Friday it was stated that the PCR stock and medicine stock will be increased, and the lists of "endemic" countries and the distribution of the number of cases will be closely monitored.

The decisions in question were explained as follows:

1) Diagnostic method is PCR. We have PCR and the stock will be increased.

2) After diagnosis, the person carrying the virus will be isolated. If deemed necessary by his/her doctor, he/she will be monitored in the hospital.

3) The person who has been in contact with any positive person will be informed and informed that they should apply to the hospital if they have symptoms.

4) We have the drugs used in treatment and the stock will be increased.

5) The decisions of the World Health Organization and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention will be followed. The lists of endemic countries and the distribution of Mpox case numbers will be monitored more closely and will be monitored and followed regularly.

6) It is within the scope of mandatory diseases that must be reported. A reminder will be sent to KTTB and institutions affiliated with our Ministry, requesting that the notification be made to TSHD on time.

7) In order to raise awareness, provide protective measures and information, our Ministry will publish a statement and also prepare brochures and share them on its website and social media accounts.
