Swedish man assaults girlfriend for cheating on him, remanded in prioson

A Swedish man who was arrested for seriously assaulting his girlfriend in Bahçeli, Kyrenia was brought before Kyrenia District Court today.

The incident happened at around 7:00pm on Wednesday August 14 when the suspect named only as E.B.F.T severely assaulted his girlfriend, A.K.S., whom he lives with at the Pine Bay View site in Bahçeli.

The assault happened because he believed she was cheating on him with other men, and he punched her in various parts of her body and head.

The suspect was arrested on the same day after a complaint was filed and was brought to the Kyrenia court on Thursday morning.  

Police said since the suspect, a Swedish citizen, is not a permanent resident of the country and requested that he be kept in custody while awaiting trial.

The judge ordered that the suspect be remanded in custody for up to 10 days.
