Man uses money he found inside a stolen wallet to pay off debt

A man who found a missing wallet on the ground reportedly use the money in the wallet to pay his debt. 

The wallet which got missing as it was mistakenly dropped by its owner in a parking lot in Demirhan on July 27 was found by the suspect named only as M.A.

Instead of finding the owner, M.A, a Turkish cational took 1000 British pounds from inside the wallet and same to pay his credit card debt.

The incident came to the attention of the police on August 7. He was identified and arrested in Lefke on August 10 with the help of camera images and was brought to court.

Police said the suspect gave a voluntary statement saying he deposited the money to pay off his credit card debt.

Police requested that he be released on bail as part of the investigation that the suspect could influence had been completed.

The suspect told the judge that he regrets his actions and admitted his crime.

The judge ordered that the suspect be released on bail on the condition that he is banned from travelling abroad, his identity and travel documents be confiscated, appear at the nearest police station once every two weeks, pay a cash deposit of 20,000 TL, and that a guarantor sign a surety bond of 400,000 TL.
