Man surrenders to police after entering north Cyprus illegally

A Syrian national residing in southern Cyprus who entered north Cyprus illegally turned himself in to the police.

The individual named only as A.H entered northern Cyprus illegally from an unidentified point in Lefkosa at around 2:00am on Monday August 25.

After entering the TRNC illegally, the suspect surrendered himself to the police. He was arrested and taken to court on charges of illegal entry and violating the military legal zone.

Police stated that the suspect came to the Lefkosia police Branch on the same day and surrendered. 

Police said the suspect would give a statement about which route he took after the trial. 

Police stated that the investigation was ongoing and requested that the suspect be detained for 3 days.
