Man assaults and stole from his neighbor for reporting him to the police

Turkish Cypriot police said they arrested a man who assaulted his neighbor and robbed him of 10,000 TL in Gönyeli.

The incident happened in an apartment located in Gönyeli at around 11:00pm on Tuesday August 6 when the suspect named only as BU beat his neighbor who “complained about him to the police” and then robbed him of 10,000 TL.

The suspect was brought before a Lefkosia district court on Wednesday.

Police stated that the suspect then took BU into his vehicle, took him to Kyrenia where he robbed him.

The suspect was arrested upon complaint. 

Police stated that the investigation had just begun, that there were camera footages and audio recordings that needed to be examined, and requested that the suspect be detained at the police station for 2 days.
