Lefkoşa to Girne transport cost increased to 100 TL

There has been a 42% increase in public transportation between Lefkoşa and Kyrenia as the public transportation fee, which was previously 70 TL, has now increased to 100 TL.

According to report, the increase in question was made 2 weeks ago.

Despite being a Tourism Island, the citizen stated that public transportation does not comply with the conditions of the 21st century.

A citizen who spoke on the increase said these public transportation vehicles, which do not have air conditioning and have one foot in the grave, could even cause accidents and expressed that public transportation should be modernized in a way that the people deserve.

Speaking to Kıbrıs Postası on the issue, Fuat Topaloğlu, Chairman of the Turkish Cypriot Contemporary Public Vehicles Operators Association, emphasized that the decision for the price hike was taken much earlier, but was not implemented because the purchasing power of the people was not affected.
