Woman and 5 others steals over 12 million TL from workplace
A woman has been detained for 3 days after she was accused of stealing over 12 million TL from her place of work.
The suspect, named only as P.İ., a 53-year-old Turkish Cypriot woman was arrested on Friday for stealing 12,270,382 TL from her workplace, Arnet Gıda Ltd., located on the 1st Street of the Haspolat Industrial Zone.
She was brought to court on the same day.
Police said she forged the receipts and invoices she wrote for food products she sold to customers between 2018 and 2024, and stole a total of 12,270,382 TL which she did not deposit into the company account.
The suspect surrendered to the police on July 18, 2024, confessed to the crimes she committed, and admitted that she had 5 other accomplices.
Police stated that the investigation was ongoing, that the suspect's statement had not yet been taken due to health problems, that there were wanted persons and documents that needed to be examined, and requested that he be detained for 3 days.
In response to the question of Prosecutor, the police stated that there were witnesses and that their statements would also be investigated.
The suspect's lawyer did not object to the 3-day period, but stated that the suspect surrendered herself, had 5 accomplices, received the least money while her accomplices received more money.
The judge ordered the suspect to be detained for 3 days.
Three more people connected with the theft were arrested on Sunday July 21.
The suspects HS, NB and RA were brought before the court. and detained for two days for more investigation to be carried out on the matter.
As at Monday July 22, a total of 3 suspects has been arrested.
