Two foreigners arrested for shoplifting in Lefkosia

Two individuals who were arrested for stealing various goods from a super market in Lefkosia were released on bail.

The suspects named only as AO and FG, reportedly stole cosmetics, personal care products and some food products from a supermarket operating in Lefkoşa at around 9:30pm pm June 28.

They were arrested on Monday July 1 and were brought to court on Wednesday.

Police in a court statement said the suspects who went to a supermarket as customers were determined to have stolen various products worth a total of 3,654.41 TL which were offered for sale in the market.

Police said some of the stolen products were found during the search of the suspects' house, and that the suspects admitted their crimes in their statements and also accepted the case brought against them.

Noting that the suspects have legal status in the country, the police requested that they be given appropriate bail.

The judge who released the suspects on bail, banned the suspects from travelling abroad until their trial and ordered them to pay a cash bail of 15,000 TL each and report to the nearest police station three days a week.
