Two detained in police custody for drugs

Two foreign nationals who were found with drugs in their possession were sent to prison for a period of two days for the purpose of investigation.

The suspects CC and KI were caught with 500 grams of drugs at around 11:00am in Hamitköy, Lefkosia on Tuesday July 23.

They were brought to the Lefkosia district court on Wednesday.

Police said the suspects identified in the Hamitköy area fled when they saw the police, parked their vehicles in front of an apartment building in the area and fled.

500 grams of drugs were seized during a search of the vehicle. 

The apartment where the suspects were staying was subsequently located and searched. The ignition key of the vehicle containing the drugs was found inside the air conditioner.

The clothes worn by the suspects during the incident were also found in the bathroom. 

Police noted that the arrested suspects stated in their statements that they had contacted each other by phone and taken the drugs together. 

Police stated that the seized drugs would be sent for analysis, that there was camera footage to be examined, and that there were 2 wanted people, and requested that they be detained for a period of 2 days.
