Two arrested for drugs in Kyrenia

Two people were arrested in Kyrenia after being caught with 41 grams of drugs during an operation carried out by Narcotics and Anti-Smuggling Department teams.

The suspects GO and MC were arrested at around 4;30pm on July 8 as part of an operation carried out by Narcotics and Anti-Smuggling Department teams in Kyrenia.

They were brought back to court on Friday with a request for bail following the conclusion of the investigation.

Police said approximately 41 grams of cannabis-type drugs packaged ready for sale and a precision scale with drug residue on them were found in the possession of the arrested suspects and taken as evidence.

Police noted that the suspects were brought to court twice, on July 10 and July 13, and a total of eight days of detention orders were issued for them.

The police noted that the necessary investigation had been completed within this period and requested that they be detained while awaiting trial.

The judge ordered that the suspects be sent to prison for a term not exceeding 45 days.
