Three arrested for working and living illegally in north Cyprus

Three individuals were arrested from their place of work after they were found to be living in north Cyprus without a resident permit.

The individuals, CIF, APO who are both Nigerians and DEM, a Ugandan were identified and arrested at around 3:30pm on July 5 during police inspections carried out at a work place in Lefkosia.

They were brought to court on Tuesday July 9.

Police said during an immigration check carried out by a police team, it was determined that CIF had resided in the TRNC without permit for a total of 219 days since November 29, 2023, DEM for a total of 1314 days since December 29, 2020, and APO for a total of 949 days since November 29, 2021.

Police stated that the necessary investigation had been carried out regarding the suspects and requested that they be sent to prison.

The judge ordered that the suspects be sent to prison for a period not exceeding 20 days.
