Student arrested for exposing his genitals to a woman while urinating in a public place

A student who was accused of sexual assault in Lefkosia for showing his genitals to a woman has been detained for 60 days on court order. 

The incident happened at around 4:00pm on Wednesday July 10 in an apartment building on Ismail Beyoğlu Street, in Lefkosia.

The suspect identified only as SSS, a Congolese national was taken to the Lefkosia district court on Thursday on charges of  sexual assault.

Police told the court that the suspect on the day while urinating in front of an apartment building on Ismail Beyoğlu Street, a public place in Lefkosia, turned towards a woman who asked him "what he was doing" and showed her his genital.

He was arrested upon a complaint. During immigration check, it was determined that he has been staying illegally in the TRNC for 924 days since December 29, 2021.

Police stated that the investigation was completed and requested that the suspect be tried in custody.

The judge ordered that the suspect be sent to prison for a period not exceeding 60 days.
