Plane crash on highway in France leaves 3 dead

Three people lost their lives today when the small tourist plane they were passengers on crashed onto a highway in France, police sources told the French Press Agency (AFP).

The collision, which occurred on Sunday afternoon, June 30, in the Paris region, reportedly happened after the Cessna aircraft came into contact with a high-voltage power line. No vehicles on the highway were hit.

“The three passengers of the plane, which had just taken off from Lognes airport, died,” the prosecutor’s office told the French Press Agency. The victims are “two men and a woman,” they added.

The Association of residents of the Lognes aerodrome stated that it is the “second time in a year” that a tourist plane from the “Lognes-Emerainville (aéroflight flying club) (…) has crashed on the A4 near Collégien.”

The highway was closed in both directions. Authorities have launched an investigation.
